From phone calls to a booking that prices itself.
My own taxi company in The Hague. Rides came in through apps at a lower rate, or by phone and WhatsApp, and every booking was confirmed by hand.
Rides came in through apps, at a lower rate than a direct booking. Bookings by phone and WhatsApp had no real confirmation, so every one of them was confirmed by hand.
And new customers barely found the company, not even people who had ridden before and still had the card.
Every ride through an app paid for a customer who could have booked directly. Every booking confirmed by hand was time not spent driving.
The fix was not more advertising. It was a direct route that is easier than the app.
A booking flow is a checkout like any other. The same rules apply: the price early, as few questions as possible, and a confirmation nobody has to send by hand.
Customers see the fare, book, and get a confirmation. Nobody has to pick up the phone to close it.
The booking figures come from the site and the Google Business Profile. I am pulling them with screenshots before I put any on this page.
Bookings through the site, the share of direct bookings against apps, and the Google Business views and calls are being collected. They go here with the period and the source next to them, or not at all.
That I treat a booking flow the way I treat your checkout: every step that makes someone hesitate costs you the order, and every step a person has to do by hand costs you time.
